What this publication is for

SuperCarSpeed is about one thing: where a car performance number comes from. Not which car is best, but what a 0 to 60 time actually measured, over what distance, in which direction, on which tyre and at what air temperature. It is written in English for a worldwide readership and it is deliberately narrow: acceleration, top speed, lap times, power and weight, braking and grip, electric performance.

The reason for the site is simple. Almost every performance figure in circulation is quoted without the conditions that produced it, which is how two honest sources end up half a second apart on the same car. Strip the conditions away and the number stops meaning anything. Put them back and most of the apparent contradictions in this subject disappear.

The rules we write by

What we do not do

There is no paid placement on this site, no manufacturer pays for coverage, and no article is written to order. If that ever changes for a specific piece, it will be marked as advertising at the top of the page, in plain words.

We also do not run our own timing gear. Nothing here is presented as a test we conducted. Where a figure comes from a record attempt, a regulation or a manufacturer, the article says which, and links to it. That distinction matters more in this subject than in most.
